The Jesse Tree - Intro to the Adventure

I'm sensing a call to resurrect the grap.eVine by offering daily devotions - at least through the Season of Advent (most of December).(It's laid fallow since February when we challenged Viners to wear a conspicuous cross through Lent.)

The Jesse Tree
(yours doesn't have to be this fancy)
These devotions will be based on the Scripture lessons associated with the Jesse Tree - you can learn more about the Jesse Tree here. In short, it's a daily Scripture reading from the Hebrew Covenant that points to the coming Messiah - Jesus. The readings are designed to show the powerful plan that God set in motion to rescue the world. Along with the readings, families usually, daily, decorate a branch or bare tree with ornaments associated with the readings. It's a wonderful way to prepare spiritually for Christmas while marking the days with your children.

Our guide for this season is a FREE downloadable pdf from Ann Voskamp called the Jesse Tree Advent Celebration.  The guide is amazing just for the illustrations - which you can use to decorate your own Jesse Tree as your family counts down the days to Christmas.  You can download your copy here.

We'll start tomorrow.   Maybe take Sunday's off - as our Gatherings will focus on the lesson for the day.

Download and print off your copy of the Jesse Tree Advent Celebration (you can even upload to your Kindle/e-reader), then go find a bare branch, some string and scissors, and join us the adventure. True Christmas preparation is for the soul, not what's under the tree on December 25. Let the dear Christ enter in.
